What is Pilates?

Pilates is a focused form of exercise that aims to improve spinal mobility, core control and core strength through full body conditioning movements. It improves posture, alleviates pain and creates an overall toned body. Pilates is challenging to your co-ordination, balance, mind-body connection, strength, flexibility and conditioning. Simply put, it finds your weaknesses and begins to improve them to create an overall healthier you who has a greater vitality to enjoy life!

What is a reformer?

The reformer was the original equipment that Joseph Pilates designed his methodology around. It is a machine that you can perform literally 100’s of movements and exercises on while adjusting to resistance and therefore difficulty. Mat Pilates was created as an after thought to suit the exposing popularity many years back, it relies on gravity as the resistance and can be too difficult for many to safely and effectively learn and improve.

What if i have a bad back or injuries? Is Pilates for me?

Because we can adjust the difficulty level, Pilates is for EVERYONE. In fact, because of its nature, Pilates is usually the best form of exercise and rehabilitation when you have issues to overcome. We start all new clients with two private lessons where we evaluate them fully to determine their needs and make sure they are safe for classes if that is their desire.

How often should i attend sessions?

Pilates is a reeducation of how to recruit muscles properly while moving pain free, easier and efficiently. It can be like learning a new language for some, because of this we recommend 3 times a week or least 2 for best results. We have many people who come more often and improve even fast but 2-3 is perfect for most.

How do i get started?

If you are not familiar with Reformer Pilates and understand the Principles then we offer a introductory offer of two private sessions that all new clients do. During these sessions we introduce you to the machine, many of the core movements and evaluate your current physical condition in terms of flexibility, co-ordination, balance, strength and mind/body connection. This pack can be booked by calling the studio and cost $125.

What do i wear and bring?

Ideally, we would like you to wear fitted workout clothing so we can see your form and movement clearly, If you own grip socks you can wear those or be bare foot (we also sell them in our studio). You only need to bring a water bottle and yourself to the session. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your session to fill out our new client form.

Do you offer any discounts or other offers?

We offer a full time student, or multi family member, discount on our standard membership making it $200 per month. Occasionally we run deals exclusive to flyers, Facebook or friends of our current members through our newsletter. What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24hrs notice before the start of a session to cancel a reservation to avoid being charged for missing it.
