Back in March of 2019, we launched a new focus and program aimed at our clients who were over 50. Kristen and I recognised that typically these members all love Pilates for the same reasons. Improved balance, strength and joint health coupled with a much lowered risk of injury and impact. All we need to do was tailor the classes even further for this groups needs!

Vicki joined us that very first month and has been a very consistent and core member ever since. Winter Challenge, Spring Challenge, Specialty workshops, Trivia Night and more! She’s even hosted an event for us at their Indoor volleyball facility just around the corner.

The way Vicki has incorporated Pilates into her busy life for so long goes to show that it truly can be your forever health and wellness choice. It very quickly went from “how do I fit this in” to “I’m sorry, thats my Pilates time”. We love how Vicki has tapped into the true power of compounding results by focusing on consistency over intensity and just letting the magic happen!

Q – When you were searching where to go, what made The Pilates Klinik stand out for you?

I had heard a lot of good comments about how good Pilates was and being a local business owner, I have always liked to support other local businesses. I googled what was in my area and found The Pilates Klinik just down the road from me.

(*I just need to interrupt here and thank Vicky and Darrel for there help and support as fellow local business owners over the past 4 years. They have always been willing to offer advice and support to us, I could give you a long list of the ways they have been helpful with their knowledge, finances, connections and time but Vicki wouldn’t want me to! Truly, I am very grateful for all you’ve done.)

Q – What sold you on jumping in and joining as a member?
I called in one day and even though the young lady was just about to lock up, she was more than happy to show me through and explain how it all worked. I was immediately drawn to give it a go as the way I was treated is exactly how we like to treat our customers (giving them your time). Once I found out that The Pilates Klinik was also a family owned and operated business like mine, I instantly felt a connection. Kristen, Michael, Robyn and all of their amazing staff have continued to make myself and many others feel apart of their Pilates family.

Q – What have you been able to achieve since starting? What improvements have you noticed?
I had suffered for years with an ongoing neck problem which restricted gym workouts, which, i didn’t like anyway! Since starting at The Klinik I have noticed huge improvements with my neck issue and also in my flexibility and general movement. It just keeps improving. The bonus is I truly love coming!

Q – What has exceeded your expectations since joining?

I have always been quite active and have tried a lot of different things but Pilates is by far the longest I have stuck to any exercise class!!  I look forward to going to my classes at least 3 times a week and if something comes up and I have to miss a class, then I feel like I have not only let myself down but I have also let my Pilates family down!!

Q – What about our business surprised you the most?
The Pilates Klinik family vibe, although running an exceptional consistent business with a highly educated and qualified team is outstanding, they really do work hard to treat everyone like they are apart of a big happy family which is no easy feat with so many clients.

Q – If there’s one word you could use to describe your experience with us, what would it be and why?
Community! Although I love the practice of Pilates, I feel that the way you are treated and considered by others really plays a huge part in your wellness.

Q – What is your favourite exercise or movement and why?
Side overs / feet in straps – these are 2 of the exercises that I feel have helped with more flexibility and movement of some of my tighter areas.

Q – What is your least favourite exercise or movement and why?
If I had to say one then it would definitely be the arc although I know it’s good for me 🙂

Q – What was it about your Pilates practice you wish you had known in the beginning

The simple fact that stretching and breathing can make such a huge difference!

(*I must interrupt again because Vicki is dropping some hard earned knowledge here… About a year into her journey, Vicki started adding in our Feel Good Reformer classes weekly and as she stated, spending time focusing on breathing and regular stretching is super beneficial for every aspect of your ability! Make no mistake, although Vicki enjoys the 50+ community she could easily hang with the Reformer 2 crowd)

Q – What advice would you give to someone just starting their own Pilates practice as a new member at The Klinik?
An old wise man once said – You don’t stop because you get old, you get old because you stop! So just give it a go and you will be so happy that you did!!

“Kristen, Michael, Robyn and all of their amazing staff offer an exceptional product to help us live our lives to the fullest. I hope they realise that i’m not going anywhere as I think they’re stuck with me for life!!” – Vicki

Well Vicki, we hope you never go anywhere either! Thank you for giving back so much to our success and community over the years, you are truly a role model for many of our members to follow in your footsteps. This week Vicki joined our most special club, the 500+ sessions Lifetime club! She may not of wanted any fanfare but we are making this months client lunch a celebration of her achievement, along with another member, Donna, who is joining the prestigious club this month as well. Please join us, as Vicki said, the community aspect is worth diving into!
