Greetings!
My name is Michael Abbott and together with my lovely wife, Kristen, we own and operate The Pilates Klinik. With over 10 years running Pilates studios we have a wealth of knowledge and experience, you can read about our backgrounds here. You can also watch a 2min studio walkthrough video here.
What is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates is an effective and safe way to improve the way your body moves, correct inflexibilities as well as strengthen weaknesses and/or imbalances. Pilates is, simply put, the ultimate hybrid of low-impact exercise, strength training, physical therapy , and physical education!
Where has this new program come from?
Over the past 5 years we have noticed a strong demand and need for Pilates that is restorative and makes people feel better. The introduction of our “Feel Good Reformer” class format was a massive hit with our members, and not just those who found our other classes too challenging. People just wanted to move a little better, have some time for themselves, to breathe, and to not feel so stiff. The result was a lot less aches in general and a feeling of balance in their lives.
Recently we’ve noticed the average age of our clients increasing, many of the “yummy mummies” demographic come and go, as they try different things. The 40+ age group find the benefits so appealing they stay around long term and are constantly telling us just how much they love the positive results they feel. We now have a large number of 50+ members who had been asking for something more tailored to their needs so we developed what is now our 50+ Pilates program.
So what do these classes focus on?
- Reducing back and neck stiffness, aches and pains
- Improving overall strength in a safe and manageable way
- Improving overall balance and stability
- Accommodate for existing joint limitations ( ankles, knees, hips, shoulders)
- Avoid excess weighting of the wrists and hands
- Move the entire body in effective ways to increase freedom and ease of movement!
“The feedback and results so far have proven this format to be perfect for our 50+ members “
What about Price?
We have heard very often that people would LOVE to come regularly but they don’t have the money to afford it. We had a wonderful solution that has already been met with great feedback. We created a new “50+ Membership” that allows clients to come to classes in off peaks times and those just for this program. We don’t offer a senior discount on our pricing so this was our way to introduce a better pricing for these clients of ours.
The pricing is $180 a month for 8 sessions, making it $22.50 a class.
Additional sessions are $17.50 each for those that wish to come more than twice a week. Our memberships never have a joining fee or any lock in contracts, we only require 2 weeks written notice to cease if your situation changes! You won’t find Reformer Pilates for cheaper or with a more experienced and knowledgeable group of instructors lead by Kristen Abbott with nearly two decades in the industry.
When are the classes?
The below schedule shows the class times for this program. You can read about all our other class types here.
How do i start?
Unless you have previous Reformer Pilates experience you will need to be assessed, introduced to the Pilates Method and the Reformer machine. We do this over the course of 2 private sessions with an Instructor. This pack of 2 one-on-one clinical Pilates sessions is $125. Following these sessions the vast majority of clients are able to join in the group classes. Some studios allow new clients to jump straight into classes but this is a disservice to you, you can read why here.
Since starting in March 2019 this program has grown rapidly. The tailored classes, reduced cost, flexible membership and variety of classes times have made this to perfect option for anyone over 50 in the Norther suburbs of Perth looking to stay fit and healthy!
Please call us to chat about our program and your particular needs and questions, we’d love to hear from you.
